Welcome to ke.etla.fi.

"Finland as a knowledge economy - elements of success and lessons learned" - is part of a World Bank sponsored project, that aims to provide examples of successful transformations from resource-based to knowledge-based economies.

ETLA, the Research Institute of the Finnish Economy, and Etlatieto Oy (a subsidiary of ETLA) in co-operation with Finpro aims to produce an edited book which will be used, e.g., as training material by the World Bank.

This projects focuses on answering following questions:

  • How Finland has become a Knowledge Economy (KE)?
  • What kind of a KE is Finland in international comparison?
  • What has been the role of public policies, private organizations, civil society, and institutions?
  • What can be learned from the Finnish experiences?
  • Could the Finnish model of KE be replicated or transferred?
